Mining & Minerals

Heavy mineral tonnage, moved without breaking the mine's rhythm

Mines and smelters live and die by throughput. We build ore, concentrate and coal movements around your production forecast, hold a buffer of wagons at the loading point and stay on top of axle limits, dust rules and border paperwork so the chain never stalls.

Border dwell we plan for

Where mineral logistics goes wrong

Ore and concentrate earn very little per tonne, so a single avoidable day of dwell can erase the margin on the whole shipment.

Volume swings

Production and export programmes change weekly. Fixed-wagon contracts leave you either short of capacity or paying for standing equipment.

Dust, moisture and grade rules

Concentrate is sensitive to rain and wind, and destination ports check moisture and contamination — covers and sealed wagons are not optional.

Loading-point bottlenecks

A single loading conveyor or aged siding can cap the whole corridor. Shipping more means fixing the loading cycle, not only adding wagons.

How we move minerals

We treat the mine siding, the border and the receiving plant as one chain, with one coordinator answerable for all three.

Corridor survey and axle planning

We map siding capacity, gradients and axle limits for every border on the route before quoting, so the load plan is legal on day one and not revised at the frontier.

Buffer fleet at the mine

Empty gondolas are staged close to the loading point, which turns a one-week wait for wagons into a same-day loading window.

Cargo care in transit

Tarpaulins, sealed containers and desiccant protect the load; moisture and weight are recorded at loading and checked again at handover.

Document control for heavy cargo

Certificates of origin, quality and radiation, plus customs declarations for both sides of the border, are prepared in advance and archived in your portal.

Transport modes for minerals

Mineral cargo chooses its own equipment: density, moisture sensitivity and where the handover happens decide the wagon.

Open gondola wagons

The default for dry ore, coal and clinker — fastest to load and tip, covered with tarpaulins where the route is dusty or wet.

Containerised concentrate

Sealed 20ft boxes keep moisture and grade stable and let the load continue by truck or vessel without rehandling at the border.

Block trains on core lanes

Dedicated full-train movements between mine and smelter lock in a fixed departure slot and the lowest cost per tonne on repeat volumes.

Cargo and equipment

Mineral and metal-bearing bulk we handle every week.

Iron ore and pellets

Loaded in gondolas with per-corridor axle checks, frequently as block trains from mine or port stockyard.

Copper and zinc concentrate

Moisture-sensitive and high value, so it travels covered or sealed with grade documentation at every handover.

Coal and coke

Steam and coking coal for power plants and steelworks, planned against stockyard capacity and seasonal demand peaks.

Mineral fertilisers and raw materials

Phosphate, potash and industrial minerals in big bags or bulk, with clean-wagon certification where the cargo is food-adjacent.

From pit to port

Five stages, each with a named owner and a documented handover.

  1. 01

    Volume forecast

We agree the monthly tonnage you expect and reserve wagon capacity against it, with a buffer for unexpected orders.

  2. 02

    Loading plan

Wagon type, axle load, covering method and the loading cycle at your siding are fixed in writing before the first train.

  3. 03

    Loading supervision

Our team attends loading, records weights and moisture, photographs the cargo and applies the seals listed on the transport documents.

  4. 04

    Transit and borders

Customs and quarantine paperwork is filed ahead of arrival and you receive milestone updates at every crossing.

  5. 05

    Discharge and reconciliation

We supervise discharge at the receiving plant, reconcile weights and report any shortage or moisture exception in writing.

Mining & minerals — common questions

What mining companies ask us before switching bulk volumes to rail.

Ship your cargo on rail

Send us the monthly tonnage, the loading point and the destination plant. We will return a corridor plan with wagon type, transit window and cost per tonne.
