Energy

Energy cargo on rail, with the safety paperwork that goes with it

Fuel, LPG, coal for generation and the oversized equipment that builds plants all move differently. We run tank wagons for liquid fuels, dedicated fleets for hazardous classes, and project teams for transformers and heavy-lift components that need permits from several authorities.

What energy cargo demands

Hazard classification, temperature limits and permit lead times make energy the most paperwork-heavy cargo we handle.

Hazard documentation

Every tank wagon needs the right MSDS, class documentation and emergency information. A missing sheet stops the train at the border regardless of the freight paid.

Temperature and season risk

Fuel oils and some chemicals thicken in winter, while heat affects others. Heating, insulation or seasonal routing has to be decided before dispatch, not en route.

Oversized project pieces

Transformers, turbines and reactors need route surveys, permits and often special rolling stock. Lead time for permits is measured in weeks.

How we move energy cargo

A dedicated coordinator, a compliance checklist per shipment and pre-agreed emergency procedures on every lane.

Certified tank and compressed-gas wagons

Liquid fuels, LPG and specialised chemicals travel in certified equipment from operators we audit, with tank test certificates valid for the full route.

Class documentation and customs

Hazard declarations, MSDS files and customs paperwork are checked before dispatch, and we keep a compliance register per shipment so nothing depends on memory.

Route survey for project cargo

For transformers and heavy equipment we survey clearances, axle loads and crane capacity at each transfer point, then obtain the permits the corridor requires.

24/7 escalation

Energy cargo cannot sit unmanaged. Each lane has an escalation contact and a written plan for handling a stop, a leak alarm or a border dispute.

Transport modes for energy cargo

Liquid, solid and oversized cargo each need their own equipment and their own risk plan.

Tank wagons and LPG

Certified tank wagons for liquid fuels and chemicals, plus compressed-gas equipment for LPG, with heating arranged in cold seasons where the product needs it.

Bulk coal and biomass

Gondola and hopper trains feeding power stations and industrial boilers, planned around plant stockyard capacity and winter demand peaks.

Project and heavy-lift moves

Flat and specialised wagons for transformers, turbines and plant modules, with route surveys, permits and crane coordination at each transfer.

Cargo and equipment

Energy and utility cargo we handle regularly.

Diesel, fuel oil and lubricants

Tank wagon movements for refineries and distributors, with bonded and transit procedures handled for cross-border deliveries.

LPG and compressed gases

Dedicated gas wagons with pressure documentation, valve checks and inspection records registered before departure.

Power-station coal

Repeat train programmes into generation plants, with tonnage planned against burn rate and stockyard space.

Transformers and project equipment

Heavy single pieces on specialised rolling stock, with shock and tilt recording where the client requires it.

From order to energised

Compliance first, then movement — the sequence is not negotiable.

  1. 01

    Compliance review

We review hazard class, packaging, tank certificates and permits, and confirm in writing which documents the route will require.

  2. 02

    Equipment booking

Certified wagons or special rolling stock are booked with the operators, and inspection certificates are collected before loading.

  3. 03

    Loading and inspection

Loading is supervised with gauge, valve, seal and weight checks, and photographs are archived with the transport documents.

  4. 04

    Transit monitoring

You receive milestone updates, and any stop is escalated to the named coordinator with the pre-agreed response plan.

  5. 05

    Delivery and closure

On arrival we supervise discharge, return the empty equipment as required and close the file with the full document set in your portal.

Energy — common questions

What energy and utility clients ask us before the first movement.

Ship your cargo on rail

Send us the product, its hazard class and the route. We will confirm the equipment, the permits needed and the transit plan before you commit.
